These large format posters promote singles from the band Automatic. The posters and the band explore the concept of Gesamtkunstwerk,  a work of art that makes use of all or many art forms or strives to do so. In this case, Automatic, whose members are Sam Ladwig and Amy Johnson, is experimenting with the idea of influence as the music and the posters are being created at the same time. The posters need to look like the music sounds and, with the audio still in process, the audio must sound like the visuals look.

Secondly, the posters and the music play with the idea of creating new imagery and sound from stock imagery and sound. Prior to creating this poster series 1000 existing gig posters were analyzed for style, content and composition. Then some of the most popular content was selected for use and new posters were created using stock imagery.

The poster series shown is the beginning of the full campaign for the EP, Left to My Own Devices.
