Taking place in a venue marked for demolition as part of the Wareham Theatre revitalization, this exhibition marks the inaugural showcase organized in downtown Manhattan, KS by the Interior Architecture and Industrial Design program of the College of Architecture, Planning, and Design. The primary objective is to establish a connection between the college, the program, students, and the Manhattan community.
A modern take on the spirograph, the logo and the book design blend the best aspects of analog and digital technology to create a strong visual. The book is printed on Lettra Paper which adds vivid color and a tactile element to the design.

This proposal book was created as part of our application to the Sappi Ideas that Matter Grant. Since 1999, Ideas that Matter has funded over 500 nonprofit projects, contributing more than $12.5 million worldwide to support the creative ideas of designers because they are a powerful force for social good. Wishes Are Horses proposed a fundraising package for Coffee Creek Riding Center which provides therapeutic riding to physically and emotionally challenged individuals at no cost. The proposal was a grant finalist.

Office Animal: Thesis Documentation
This 116 page book provides an in-depth look at the genesis of the Percheron 034 desk from early free-flowing conceptual ideas, to the final prototype mock-up. The development of the Percheron 034 is the result of Amy Jacobson-Peters’ thesis for her Master’s of Fine Arts in Industrial Design through the Academy of Art University, San Francisco, California.
Designs at the end of the book are proprietary and the remainder of the book is not shown for that reason.

“Post All Bills” – a title reversing the common phrase “Post No Bills,” referring to wall space forbidding posters – highlighted original letterpress designs using illustration and typography.
The exhibition adhered to three rules: feature an illustration in each piece; challenge each design to tell a tiny truth, include personal realities; and adhere to the statement “fair is fair” when handling critiques.
I welcomed my students to critique the work throughout the last semester.
All featured designs were created utilizing UCO Design's Letterpress and Prototyping lab.

The UCO School of Design has set its sights on becoming a top 20 Design School. Facilities are our critical need.
Several years ago, the University of Central Oklahoma purchased the St. Mary’s Episcopal Church and School just across from the main campus on University Drive. The building meets the physical needs of the School of Design and allows the School to have students, faculty, and equipment all in a single facility. The new School of Design will house classroom space, critique space, faculty offices, a maker-space, a print center, photography studios, an outdoor courtyard, a supply store, and a design gallery.
The building requires life safety renovation for occupancy at a total cost of 3.2 million. The College of Fine Arts and Design and the University of Central Oklahoma has pledged 2.1 million toward the restoration.
We need to raise 1.1 million; Make Ready, the Case for UCO Design represents our fundraising request for this critical campaign.

These large format posters promote singles from the band Automatic. The posters and the band explore the concept of Gesamtkunstwerk, a work of art that makes use of all or many art forms or strives to do so. In this case, Automatic, whose members are Sam Ladwig and Amy Johnson, is experimenting with the idea of influence as the music and the posters are being created at the same time. The posters need to look like the music sounds and, with the audio still in process, the audio must sound like the visuals look.
Secondly, the posters and the music play with the idea of creating new imagery and sound from stock imagery and sound. Prior to creating this poster series 1000 existing gig posters were analyzed for style, content and composition. Then some of the most popular content was selected for use and new posters were created using stock imagery.
The poster series shown is the beginning of the full campaign for the EP, Left to My Own Devices.

Created as promotional pieces and installation banners, this poster series featured the work of furniture designer Sam Ladwig in a pop-up-shop exhibition.
Felix ate three pairs of glasses, eight remotes, whole shirts, three bras, and countless shoes…but I still miss him.
Very much what it sounds like, a poster to get students to go on the Dept’s study tour to Chicago. The tour also included participation in Screwball Academy with Steve Walters of Screwball Press. We sent designs ahead so all items would be prepped and ready for a day of printing. No pressure, I mean he only designed/printed the See Beautiful Historic Pavement poster that I have hanging in my living room…nothing quite like sending work off to someone whose work you admire/collect.
He posted my poster on his Facebook page. Yeah, I know that probably happens for every Academy...I still called my mom!

Exhibition Design.
Exhibition of packaging/systems design.
A visual language can be thought of as an “alphabet” of design elements – shape, color, materials, finish, typography, illustration or image style and composition – which directly and, in many cases, subliminally communicate a company’s values and personality through compelling imagery and design style.
This language, when properly combined, results in an emotional connection between the brand and the consumer. The successful creation of a visual language is a key ingredient necessary to make an authentic and convincing brand strategy that can be applied across many formats.
But the design of such a complex language requires a systems thinking approach to the design and the strategy of the brand. This is far more than the typical “look and feel” of a project it is the beginning of a dialogue between the consumer and the product. It is the beginning of a relationship which may grow and flourish over time.
This type of complex solution is not something that is typically taught at the undergraduate level but it is a thought process and skill-set that, if mastered, makes a designer highly sought after in today’s market.

Unfortunately the images of these in situ didn’t come across from my UK phone. I did include an image pre-installation.
